Chambre Empire
The Empire Room is a faithful representation of a room of the First Empire (1804-1814), and its spectacular bathroom is a reproduction of the one in the mansion of Josephine of Beauharnais —wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. This careful attention was worth it because the family of Marie-Christine de Kergorlay, nee de Percin, originally came from Martinique and was related to the family of Josephine de Beauharnais.
The choice of the wall paper (with bees on a white background) and of the fabrics conforms perfectly to the standards of the time. All the furniture is from the Empire period.
The Empire Room is situated, like the Louis XVI Room and the Academician’s Suite, on the second floor of the Renaissance wing, and opens onto the grand gallery with a view on the grand perspective of the chateau.
