This bedroom is situated on the ground floor with a view on the pond. The main room has been redecorated with a Pierre Frey fabric. The bedroom’s theme, and its colors pink and cream, match the antique wallpaper which has been preserved in the small adjoining room. This room is named in honor of the young Eleonore de Faudoas, friend of Charlotte Corday. Eleonore was arrested at Canisy on June 15, 1794 with her father and her aunt and guillotined on July 14 (13 days before the 9 Thermidore) because she had had the bad idea of writing to her sister Justine “my little dog Jacobine just gave birth to five little Jacobins”, showing that during certain periods of history humor must be dealt with cautiously...

To complete the picture this room used to have a “wooden shoe bathtub,” an exact replica of the one in which Marat was killed by Charlotte Corday. But because such a bathtub is uncomfortable we decided to replace it with a beautiful copper bathtub made in the artisinal workshops of Villedieu les Poeles.

We lose some history, but as a result our guests are certainly more comfortable.
